I still have an intimate and ongoing relationship with diet soda, which means I still am ingesting caffeine. Oh well, I guess some things are harder to quit than others.
The weather got warmer so I have been able to ride my bicycle more. I ride about four days a week, and have an 18-mile course that I like to ride. I started taking IGNITE at my half-way point, and discovered that my return ride was faster and more comfortable than the ride out. I average about 2 mph faster. My legs feel fresher too.
I went to the eye doctor for my annual check-up. My eyes are still going great, and are not affected at all yet by my diabetes. Good news.
The next ingredient in Chews 4 Health: Mangosteen
The mangosteen fruit has been used for thousands of years throughout Asia for its health-enhancing properties. When Queen Victoria tasted this imported delicacy in the mid-1800s, she promptly declared it her favorite fruit. Since then it's been commonly referred to as, "The Queen of Fruits." Centuries later, science has finally corroborated what folklore medicine has known for centuries: Mangosteen works! The key ingredient of the mangosteen fruit is called xanthone, a natural molecular substance that has recently won high praise from numerous scientists and researchers. What's remarkable is that the mangosteen represents the single greatest known supply of these tremendously beneficial xanthones. Despite the fact that mangosteen has only recently been discovered in the West, there have already been literally hundreds of research papers and third-party studies conducted on mangosteen and xanthones throughout the world.

I've given up caffeine. For two whole days so far. I've never drank coffee, but I like soda and I feel like it's a major sacrifice to give it up. I'm drinking caffeine free diet soda for a little while, like one more day, but will give that up too. It's on to the water thing for me. Water is supposed to be the best liquid to drink anyway. Maybe it'll help cleanse my body.
Last post was Goji, this post is Noni.
Noni fruit comes from the mulberry plant of the South Pacific Islands of Tahita and Hawaii. Noni has been used in folk remedies by Polynesians for over 2000 years and is reported to have a broad range of health benefits. Noni (which means "longevity") is known as a balancing agent that helps stabilize and enhance the health of the body. The noni plant was considered vital to ancient settlers and was one of the four basic plants that they brought with them in canoes as they colonized new islands. Today, millions across the world are discovering the health enhancing properties of this once hidden island secret. One of the most important components of the noni fruit is proxeronine, a natural ingredient, which is a building block essential to human cell growth (these statements not evaluated by the FDA).
Noni is another of the ingredients in Chews 4 Health, a delicious tasting, doctor formulated natural chewable dietary supplement derived from the most nutrient-rich sources from around the world.

My apologies for waiting a year for my second post. That won't happen again. I got side-tracked.
I've lost some weight in the last year. I started this blog at 237 pounds, and I'm now at 223 pounds. I'm happy with the 14 pounds but I know that I've just started.
One of the good things that has happened is that I found a friend that likes cycling as much as I do and we established a regular routine. Our regular course was about 18 miles and we rode it as many days during the week that we could, excluding weekends. We're both retired so we could do that. We rode at 10:00 a.m., and because of where we live, we had a headwind on the way out and a tailwind on the way back. Riding back was always more fun. During the last month after it started to get cold we changed to 1:00 p.m. when it was a little warmer, which gave us a tailwind on the ride out and a headwind on the return trip. That took some adjusting.
Now its getting too cold to ride, so I've started hiking. Here in western Colorado we are blessed with a myriad of trails and scenic areas to hike in. That'll work until it snows, which could be this week. After that I will be on the stationary bike and doing Hip Hop Abs to stay fit, or hopefully become fitter.
I take Chews 4 Health dietary supplements, and have for the past year. I like them so much that I became an affiliate for the company to at least earn commissions on the product I use myself, which works out to be about a 15% discount. I haven't had any major sickness since I started taking them.
I'm going to list an ingredient in Chews 4 Health in each post until I've listed them all. Here comes the first:
GOJI
It's hard to ignore all the positive publicity Goji berries have been receiving in the media. These include: The Today Show, LA Times, Time, Harper's Bazaar, CNN, ABC, Larry King, Oprah and many others. Even world renowned "celebrity dermatologist" Dr. Howard Murad recommends Goji in his latest book, The Cellulite Solution. Goji are delicious, bright red berries native to the Orient. There are many health benefits attributed to the Goji berry and most of these have been linked to it's very high antioxidant properties. These berries also contain powerful polysaccharides which have anti-aging properties, help improve learning and memory abilities and remarkable immune system enhancing capabilities. (These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA). This could explain why the Goji berries may contribute to living a longer and healthier life. Goji berries have 18 amino acids (including 8 essential amino acids.) Essential amino acids are ones that the body cannot produce and must come from the food we eat. Goji berries also contain trace minerals and protein. There is more beta carotene in Goji berries than in carrots and they contain more vitamin C than oranges! They are also a rich source of naturally occurring B1, B2, B6, vitamin E, essential fatty acids and phytonutrients. Not all Goji is the same! Some manufacturers use artificial heat and sulfur dioxide to retard the fermentation process. These procedures diminish the berries' nutritional potency. Chews 4 Health contains Goji berries that are naturally processed, verified and tested to contain no sulfur dioxide.
